![]() I'd prefer if the front page was a one big search box, so developers would have to stop relying on it for success and people could stop complaining about all the bad games that get on Steam. You cannot do quality control when people are going to be upset if you don't let some games in your service and people are going to be upset if you do. People also have vastly different ideas of what is good and what isn't, so Valve shouldn't have to judge what games people want to pay for. It's the developers admitting their product isn't in a very good shape even by their own standards. It's by no means flawless, but I guess it's helpful to some. The early access tag is merely holding the hand of customers who refuse to do even the slightest bit of research, like one Google search, before committing to a purchase. I've seen hundreds of awesome looking promotional banners, but they never tell you what the game is like. If you click on fancy looking banners, the game might be shit regardless of early access or not. Only when Developers see it as a Full Game Released (But anything can change). There's plenty of bug-ridden garbage that claims to be complete and plenty of early access titles that far surpass them in quality and are well worth the money even if they never developed further. It is going to be Beta Testers First, released for EA, then Full Released. ![]() What is the definition of a "finished game"? That's why I made the thread about a much more interesting, and much less trivial discussion topic. It is an easy fix that would negate a mild annoyance for some.įor that point, the most common counterargument was that the labeling is not enough an issue to make a thread about it. The lack of labeling on front page Early Access games is a just curious oversight. It seems like my wording misled some people. I might have missed some as there is no indication on the front page, and verifying would require me checking the store page for every single game that has been there so far. It is possible that Steam regulates this by allowing only one new front page Early Access game per day. I would like to hear your opinions on the matter, regardless of it being for or agaist the current practice. A clear indication should be there even before I click or hover over the thumbnail. On the other hand, I find it obnoxious that the front sale page has no indication whatsoever whether or not a title is in Early Access. But this is mostly would be my personal preference, and I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. I object to this practice as I believe that a spot on the sale front page should be a privilege of finished products. (The Long Dark, Plague Inc., Kerbal Space Program, 7 Days to Die, Next Car Game) ![]() During the last Steam Sale Early Access games were frequent on the front page and this tendency persists as there has not been a single day during the current Steam Sale without an Early Access game on the front page.
